Many millions of deaths occur every year due to unhealthy hearts. A heart healthy diet is the key to having a healthy heart. Today’s diet is made up of so much processed meat, sweets, fried foods, and desserts. The food dyes and preservatives are also said to be taking a part in this mass epidemic.  Due to our poor diets, and lack of physical activity it is very important to design a heart healthy diet plan, and stick to it.

A heart healthy diet is a good mix of the right foods and exercise. Cutting out all food that is
high in cholesterol is step number one. This is important, and it is obvious why. Foods that are high incholesterol cause high cholesterol which causes the veins to be blocked up which causes a heart attack or heart disease. A heart healthy diet includes these items only as a seldom occurring treat.
Changing a dietary habit is hard, let alone changing them all at once.  A good suggestion is to sit and plan steps and formulate a low cholesterol diet plan for cutting out bad habits one by one. For example, cut out all red meat, then next week stop eating fried potatoes. The steps can be as small and as gradual as you need, but shoot for all of your big habits to be changed within the month. This way you can start spending time addressing the smaller problems.

Saturated fats are not meant to be eaten by humans. These fats come from animals, and since man was an herbivore before starting to hunt flesh. Also stay away from egg yolks, whole milk, cream, ice cream, whole milk cheeses, butter and lard. Coconut oil is also high in saturated fat.

Omega-3 fatty acids fats (polyunsaturated fats) are good for your body. Olive, canola, peanuts, and avocados are high in monosaturated fats which are simple for the body to break down and use. If you eat a lot of animal meat, you only get this nutrition second-hand. It comes from the animal who ingested it at an earlier time.
As much as possible, avoid fast food. Just replacing two percent of trans fat calories with fats from healthier sources reduces the risk of heart disease by as much as fifty percent! This means eating a salad or a packed lunch. This means preparing ahead of time for a meal you are going to eat later.
